WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE ANCIENT WISDOM BIRTH SERVICES

Our Philosophy

Birth is not something to fear. It is a normal physiologic process deserving of patience, trust, education, and compassionate support.

We believe birth is:

  • Physiologic

  • Sacred

  • Family-centered

  • Guided by evidence

  • Grounded in informed choice

  • Honored with respect

  • Supported—not controlled

Why I Chose Midwifery

Midwifery isn’t simply a career for me—it’s a calling.

I chose midwifery because I trust in the physiology of birth. I believe pregnancy and birth are normal, healthy life events, and that the body is beautifully designed for this journey. When families are cared for with patience, respect, informed choice, and evidence-based support, birth can unfold in powerful and transformative ways.

At the same time, I understand that birth is unpredictable. My years as an obstetrical surgical technologist gave me a deep appreciation for the moments when medical intervention becomes necessary to protect the health of a parent or baby. Those experiences strengthened—not weakened—my belief in physiologic birth by teaching me the importance of recognizing when birth is progressing normally and when additional care is needed.

For me, midwifery is about honoring both the art and the science of birth. It is about listening before leading, educating before intervening, and trusting the innate wisdom of the birthing body while remaining prepared to collaborate when circumstances change.

Every family deserves compassionate, respectful, evidence-informed care. It is a privilege to walk alongside parents during one of life’s most sacred transitions, and I consider it an honor to answer this calling each time I am invited into a birth space.

I don’t believe birth needs to be controlled—I believe it deserves to be understood, protected, and honored.

What is Home Birth?

TWO MIDWIVES ONE INVESTMENT

Unlike many maternity care practices where one provider manages every aspect of care alone, Ancient Wisdom Birth Services follows a collaborative model.

Your care includes:

  • Personalized care from Nyasia throughout pregnancy

  • Clinical oversight from an experienced supervising midwife

  • Collaborative decision-making

  • Individualized education

  • Additional support during labor and birth

  • IBCLC-level breastfeeding support

  • A team committed to your family’s safety

We believe collaboration strengthens care while educating the next generation of community midwives.

A planned home birth is the intentional choice to welcome your baby in the comfort and familiarity of your own home with a qualified birth team.

Home birth is designed for healthy individuals experiencing a low-risk pregnancy and includes comprehensive prenatal care, labor and birth support, postpartum care, newborn assessments, and continued breastfeeding support.

Choosing home birth is not about avoiding medical care—it’s about receiving the right care in the right setting while maintaining a clear plan for consultation or hospital transfer whenever additional medical care is needed.
